Finally… I finished the skirt that has been many months in the making!
Some time ago, I took a Tessuti's Sew Inn class where I began to make two projects. One, a New Look missus top, which I wrote about previously and you can find it here, and two, a Simplicity 2258 misses skirt, which I barely started. So using the same Amy Butler cotton fabric, I finally finished the skirt just in time before summer ends.
The pattern was defiantly easier than the last, and with my beginner sewing skills, it came together without too many problems. Although I could have made it a little smaller, it still fits quite perfect in a loose way. I'm always a little scared of making things too small so I tend to make the larger size.
The pockets and ties took me a while to nut out, it took numerous readings and re-readings of the instructions. It has an elastic waist which turns out, is just too easy, although a little daggy, the ties do well to cover it up. I also modified the length and made it shorter to suit my height.
I'm so glad I finally found the time to finish this skirt. I absolutely love that it has pockets, and I think it's really cute!
Now to move onto a harder pattern...
