Here it is finally!
I finished my misses top made up of an Amy Butler cotton fabric. I began making this in a Tessuti's Sew Inn class and just finished it this morning. It was my first time working from a pattern and it was defiantly a challenge.
Although I could have made it a little smaller, it still fits quite perfect in a loose way. The pattern was a stretch for my beginner sewing skills, but with help from class it came together without too many incidents.
The neckline and arms took me a while to nut out (ie. it took numerous readings and re-readings of the instructions and lots of studying pictures in my sewing book). It was my first time sewing a zipper too which turns out, is not so hard! I also modified the length and made it shorter to suit my shape.
I'm so glad I persisted, I'm feeling very pleased with myself!

What a great simple pattern. I love the high neckline.
ReplyDeleteEven after sewing lots of patterns I always need to read and reread a pattern to get it straight in my head!
It's lovely, I'm sure you'll get lots of wear out of it. I've been on a bit of a Wiksten tank frenzy lately getting ready for the warm weather. I love the neckline on yours.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I rarely use patterns (or follow them correctly!)... they confuse the hell out of me most of the time! Zippers used to freak me out too! I've done 2 now and they aren't so bad.
