My creative space

Over the past week I've been concentrating on a new illustration design for fabric. I've been working on this illustration for some time with no idea what to make from it.

But now the right occasion has presented itself, and I've decided to make a beautiful silk camera strap for my Nikon DSLR to match my new dress for a wedding in September. Which do you like?

It’s still a work in progress, but I’ve ordered a little of each, so keep watching this space to see the end product!

A Day in Spain

Over the past week, I've spent a lot of time making travels plans, because I'm not only traveling to France in September, but I'm also heading to Spain as well.

San Sebastian, Madrid, Granada, Barcelona and many villages in between – it's going to be a whirlwind journey. Looking forward to, not only the paella and tapas, the astonishing art galleries and Gaudi, but also relaxing on some of most beautiful beaches in Europe.

So here is my treasury list created in Etsy, featuring plenty of Spanish inspired must-have items for a perfect summer in Spain.

Sell what you love

Sell what you love

I recently read a great article on etsy, which had some of the best advice.

Sell what you love and sell and what you would create for yourself.

For me, figuring out what to sell is an ongoing process. I sometimes tend to get wrapped up in whatever is popular at the moment and would sell, but then it doesn't excite me. But when you love and believe in your product, and design and make what you want to wear or use, creating these items will be fun, and this will help keep you motivated.

I am quite literally my target market. I design things I want. This is how my business started.
I wanted some cushions for my house, I had an idea in my head and it developed from there.
When I make something, it's because I want it for myself – and then I make some more to sell.

So whenever I find myself caught up in ideas that I'm not passionate about, I think back to this advice and it always gets me focused again.
